Double Lift

One thing I see far too many times when watching magicians is an unnatural double lift. There are many ways to do a double lift but what you shouldn't do, no matter what type you use, is to stiffly handle the cards and twist your hand and arm around. What I mean is I see magicians and they will grab the cards by the side, and when turning it over, will have a grip too tight and will twist their arm in unnatural positions. This screams, "MOVE!" to a spectator, and whether or not they know you have more than one card, they will suspect that you did something sneaky.

Again, everyone has their own ways of doing a double lift, but a general rule is this. When turning the cards over, when they are perpendicular to the floor, let go with all fingers except the forefinger, which gently pushes the cards on to the deck. Done properly, the cards won't spread and they will appear to be a single card.

Below is a video of the way I do the double lift, and a video of the way I DON'T think a double lift should be done. I said it before, but I'll say it again. I'm not trying to say how everyone should do a double lift, or say this is the best way, I'm just saying how I see magicians do double lifts and how unnatural it looks.
